Seidner v. De Vries

9th Cir. No. 20-17403

Along with the NAACP, Rights Behind Bars represents Mr. Seidner, a cyclist who was rammed by a police car—without warning —for allegedly cycling without a front light on a quiet street at night. Mr. Seidner was handcuffed and dragged while unconscious to the side of the road. Mr. Seidner filed this case pro se alleging a violation of his Fourth Amendment rights to be free from excessive force, after sustaining multiple injuries to his chest, wrist, and head from the attack. Defendants appealed their denial of summary judgment, arguing that they are entitled to qualified immunity for their actions.
